The Hudson River Pageant 2012 on Flickr.

What’s this? I believe that this is one of the many volunteers who participated in this weekend’s Hudson River Pageant. The event is an “ecological community arts/theater project engaging youth and community to highlight the restoration the Hudson River Estuary’s native species and habitats.” It is part of the many events that Earth Celebrations coordinates around the city. There were tons of people dressed up as sea like creatures and entities who acted out skits, sang and danced along the water front.

If you would like to learn more about this, check out Earth Celebrations web site. I am hoping to do some volunteer work in the future.

Aside from this mystical event, I checked out the 33rd Annual Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Festival in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The event had some interesting performances going on stage. I came in rather late so I believe I missed some parts. In past events, folks were out on the street decked out in cultural attire. I believe I came in during the Polynesian Dance Productions section.
